Meet our new trustee: Dr Adeola Olaitan

Tue, 08/11/2022 - 10:00

We are very pleased to welcome a new trustee, Dr Adeola Olaitan. She brings a wealth of expertise, which will support us in working towards our vision of a world without cervical cancer.

In her day-to-day job, Adeola is Honorary Associate Professor at University College London and Honorary Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at UCLH. She has over 60 peer reviewed publications, review articles & book chapters as well as award winning presentations, published in abstract. She is also a Visiting Professor for surgery and specialist lectures in China, India, Nigeria, Canada, Ghana.

Fact: Adeola initiated the first self-sustaining cervical screening program, in collaboration with local gynaecologists in Lagos Nigeria in 2005.

“I joined Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust as I am impressed with the work they do to raise awareness about cervical cancer, a potentially preventable disease and to support women throughout the pathway from prevention to diagnosis and treatment. I hope to see the eventual elimination of this cancer that still kills one woman every two minutes globally.”

Adeola joins our board of trustees at an exciting time as we embark on the development of a new five-year strategy and build our plans to get closer to our vision of eliminating cervical cancer.

Our Chief Executive Samantha Dixon says:

“Adeola is a very welcome addition to our fantastic Board of trustees. I speak for the whole Jo's team when I say that we are extremely excited to work with Adeola and learn from her experience and knowledge. Already Adeola has shown that she is enthusiastic and eager to get stuck into opportunities for our charity.”
