We are very pleased to have appointed two new trustees, Amelia Chong and Charlotte Rains, who both join the Board this month (March 2021). They bring a wealth of expertise in their respective fields of policy and operations, which will support us in working towards our vision of a world without cervical cancer.
Rebecca Shoosmith, Acting Chief Executive: "Amelia and Charlotte are very welcome additions to our fantastic Board of trustees. They are already so engaged, and eager to share their experience and knowledge. I speak for the whole Jo's team when I say that we are very excited to work with Amelia and Charlotte!"
Two trustees, Tessa Bamford and Rebecca Mcreath, will be retiring from the board after nine years.
Clodagh Ward, Head of the Board of trustees said: “I would like to thank Tessa and Rebecca who are retiring after nine years of supporting and guiding the charity. We will greatly miss their input and direction and I am grateful for all their help, advice and passion for the charity. I am delighted that we have appointed two new Trustees who bring valuable skills and expertise to support the charity over the coming years.”
Amelia Chong is currently the Policy Advisor for finances and specialised services at NHS Providers. Prior to this, Amelia spent seven years working as a policy and public affairs professional for two cancer charities: Breast Cancer Now and Anthony Nolan. It was during this time that she was introduced to the work of Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. Amelia is particularly passionate about the power of influencing to improve treatment, care and support, and is excited to bring her experiences to the Board.
Amelia said: "Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust has always struck me as a charity that punches above its weight, so I'm incredibly proud to join the Board. I hope that my experiences working in health policy and public affairs can help the charity realise new opportunities, and more importantly drive improvements in treatment, care and support."
Charlotte Rains is Head of Operations at the Lumos Foundation, an NGO working to end the harm of institutionalisation and help children worldwide be reunited with family. Prior to working at Lumos, Charlotte worked as Director of Operations for the Whole School SEND Consortium and for the London Leadership Strategy, delivering Department for Education funded contracts to support learners with special educational needs. Charlotte holds an MSc in Voluntary Sector Management from Cass Business School and a Diploma in Charity Accounting and Financial Management from the ICAEW.
Charlotte said: "I'm delighted to have been selected as a trustee for Jo's. The charity has an impressive track record and is highly regarded as the UK's leading charity for cervical cancer. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team to deliver its ambitious goals in the coming years."
